Note on Special Projects

Special Projects are electives with UT-Houston faculty that are arranged on an ad hoc basis--they are not listed in the catalog. They allow you to pursue a particular interest with a particular faculty member. How to enroll? There are two steps:

1) On the elective form you are turning in, write SPEC 4000 for the department code and course number. Write in the title (e.g., "Research in Ophthalmology").

2) At least 2 months prior to the start of the Special Project month, obtain a Special Project Form from Student Affairs and have the faculty member fill it out and sign it. Then submit the form to Student Affairs for approval by either Dr. Lahoti or Dr. McNeese. You will receive a copy of the approved form in your mailbox or via email.

3) Make sure the Registrar has you listed for a SPEC 4000 for the appropriate month. If not, add it via UTLINK. Otherwise, you cannot receive credit for the elective.
