Note on Special Projects

Special Projects are electives with UT-Houston faculty that are arranged on an ad hoc basis--they are not listed in the catalog. They allow you to pursue a particular interest with a particular faculty member.

There are two steps to ensure course credit for Special Projects:

1) There are two options for Special Projects at UT-Houston. One, SPEC 4000, is      reserved for clinical electives, and the other, SPEC 4001, is reserved for      research electives. When choosing one of these courses, please write in the      title (e.g., "Research in Ophthalmology", or "Pediatric Clinical Elective").

2) At least 2 months prior to the start of the Special Project month, obtain a      Special Project Form from Student Affairs and have the faculty member fill it      out and sign it. Then submit the form to Student Affairs for approval by either      Dr. Lahoti or Dr. McNeese. You will receive a copy of the approved form in your      mailbox or via email.
