Retreat is an unforgettable experience and a great chance to meet your future classmates/colleagues in a non-stressful environment. In addition, many of the second and third years students come back to participate in the 30 year tradition, along with many of the professors and alumni that you will encounter during your first year of medical school. Retreat is a great chance to just sit back, relax and have a fabulous time!
You are more than welcome to bring your spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend so that they can share in the experience with you. It is an opportunity for you, as an incoming student, to allow us to entertain you. There are tons of skits, workshops, food and outdoor activities throughout the first day.
That night there is a huge costume party that focuses around a theme. The 2007 theme is “Live from UT Houston, its Friday Night Live!” So be prepared to don your best Spartan cheerleader outfit (or any other Saturday Night Live costume you can think of) and dance the night away!
Like I mentioned above, the freshman retreat allows an up-close experience with your classmates and affords for us a chance to be among the first to welcome you into the UT Houston family! You really don’t want to miss out on this incredible weekend!
