Nomination of: Dr. Jean Onwuchekwa

Dr. Onwuchekwa is an incredible resident, always striving to do more for her patients.  She spends time at the bedside of her patients to explain their condition and to field any questions that they might have.  She was vigilant about checking up behind her interns to make sure that everything was done properly and thoroughly.    She has an extensive knowledge base that aids her in her efficient decision making abilities.  As a resident, one must be organized, efficient, and professional and Dr. Onwuchekwa is definitely the epitome of these traits.  She is also a phenomenal teacher.  She walked me through several procedures (without incident, I might add) and did so with great ease.  On more than one occasion, she took time out of her personal schedule at home to prepare lectures for the medical students.  She also stayed late a few times during the month to help the AI (acting intern) to prepare a Morning Report presentation in order for him to make a good impression on the Internal Medicine Department.

I hope that our program will recognize Dr. Onwuchekwa and others like her for their excellence in medicine.
