Students win Webber Prizes for research
The 2006 C. Frank Webber Prize for Student Research Competition was held during the annual Research Forum Oct. 26 in the Medical School's Leather Lounge. Medical students who participated in the 2006 Summer Research Program presented scientific research posters, which were judged for the Webber Prize awards.
Winner for first place was Kerry Welsh (sponsored by Dr. Jeffrey Actor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine). Second place winner was Kenneth Estrera (sponsored by Dr. Thomas Clanton, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery). Third place winner was Robert Lentz (sponsored by Dr. Theresa Koehler, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics).
Interim Dean Jerry Wolinsky and Dr. Patricia Butler, associate dean for educational programs, sponsor the program, which is directed by Dr. Gary Rosenfeld, professor of integrative biology and pharmacology. Additional support is provided by a grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.
