Setting up the OS X VPN Client
This document is intended to assist in connecting to the UTSCH network using the Aventail VPN Client. The instructions below
assume that you are using OS X 10.4 or later, have administrator rights to your Mac, and have a UT user ID and password. If you are unsure whether your computer meets these requirements, please
contact your LAN Manager.
- Download the Mac VPN client here
- The downloaded file should be called aventailconnect-osx.zip. Double-click this file to unzip another file called AventailConnect-OSX.dmg
- Double-click AventailConnect.dmg, then double-click the icon for Aventail Connect.pkg
- In the installer window, click Continue.
- Select the location you would like to install the VPN client to (generally "Macintosh HD"), and click Continue
- Click Install, and enter your username and password when prompted
- Double-click the icon for Aventail Connect in the directory you chose to install to (most likely Macintosh HD/Applications)
- When the program opens, use the drop-down menu to select "UTHSCH Employees & Students@govpn.uth.tmc.edu"
- If you see the following message regarding a certificate, click Show Certificate
- Check the box for Always Accept and then click Accept
- Enter your UTHSCH UserID and password, and click OK
- Once connected, you will see a window similar to the following. Do not close this window until you are ready to disconnect from the VPN.
