Setting up the OS X VPN Client
This document is intended to assist in connecting to the UTSCH network using the Aventail VPN Client. The instructions below
assume that you are using OS X 10.4 or later and have a UT user ID and password. If you are unsure whether your computer meets these requirements, please
contact your LAN Manager.
- Download and install the Mac VPN client here
- OS 10.5 "Leopard" users only: Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and type
touch avc.noevent
at the prompt and hit enter. Quit Terminal.
- Run the VPN software, and on the initial screen, click Properties
- In the Host name field, type
govpn.uth.tmc.edu
then click the Change button
- In a few moments, UTHSC-H Employees & Students should be selected automatically. Click OK, then OK again to go back to the main window
- Enter your user ID and password and click Connect
- Once connected, you will see a window similar to the following. Do not close this window until you are ready to disconnect from the VPN.
