New development officer named

Melinda Carter has come on board as the Medical School’s new assistant director of development.

In this position she will be cultivating major gift donors and prospects and overseeing the annual fund. The Medical School’s annual fund debuted this year with a mail appeal directed to alumni.

“All gifts to the annual fund are unrestricted and will be used to support the school’s greatest needs, such as retaining and recruiting faculty,” Carter said.

Staff, faculty, grateful patients, and others can donate to the annual fund through an online giving form found under Ways to Give under the Donors and Friends header on the Medical School’s homepage, http://med.uth.tmc.edu/, or by calling the Development Office at 713.500.5002.

A native of Nederland, Texas, Carter previously worked in fund raising at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

“We are delighted to have Melinda join our development staff to strengthen the Medical School’s fund-raising efforts,” said interim Dean Jerry Wolinsky.
