Welcome to the Office of Research Affairs Web Address: .
The University of Texas Medical School provides an environment that fosters research and scholarship across all disciplines. Over 800 faculty members are engaged in various types of grant supported research.

The Office of Research Affairs has a firm commitment to advancing the research enterprise of the Medical School by providing input on research and research related policy matters to the Dean,  the Administrative Council and Faculty Senate.

We are also committed to enhancing the research and intellectual endeavors of both faculty and post graduate trainees through programs offered by the Research Committee, Graduate Student Education Committee and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The Office of Research Affairs also screens and identifies nominees for extramural funding opportunities with limited submission criteria,  approves visiting student appointments, and is responsible for the oversight and management of the Annual Medical School Research Retreat, The Ernst Knobil Distinguished Lecture, the Dean’s Lecture Series and the Cheves Smythe Distinguished Lecture Series.
