Transitional Year Residency Training Program
(ACGME Accreditation # 999-48-00-219)

2005 Class of TYPThe Transitional Year Program at The University of Texas-Houston Medical School was designed to provide a broad clinical experience for physicians needing such training for subsequent graduate education in a selected field, and for physicians as yet undecided as to a specialty. This yearlong ACGME accredited program has a well-deserved reputation for excellence. The program's home base, the Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, affords trainees access to excellent teaching by dedicated faculty, the opportunity to work with a large and diverse patient population, and the experience of a public health care institution. This site, coupled with the other outstanding hospitals affiliated with The University of Texas-Houston Medical School, provides a broad yet balanced clinical experience. The program's website has been designed to answer the most commonly asked questions about the program.
