Scholarly Concentrations

The UTHealth Medical School Scholarly Concentrations Program is designed to enrich the student experience through learning and scholarly activities specific to the interdisciplinary health-related topic.

Summer Programs

The Office of Educational Programs is pleased to offer several summer programs for students at all levels.


This program offers new matriculates to UTHealth Medical School the opportunity to strengthen their academic performance by participating in a rigorous academic program, tutorial sessions, computer and study-skills workshops; and by establishing support networks with students and faculty.

Summer Research

College undergraduates and UTHealth Medical students participate in hands-on laboratory research experience supervised by faculty members from the medical and dental schools of UT-Houston.

The program at UTHealth School of Dentistry and Medical School is one of twelve sites of the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP), a national program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Peer Tutoring

Second and fourth year medical students provide tutoring in all of the pre-courses.

Alternate Pathway

This program was established for those medical students with special backgrounds or considerations and provides an opportunity to decelerate the pace of the basic science curriculum.
