Peer Tutoring Program
New Tutor Information

 

The Office of Educational Programs needs second year students willing to become Peer Tutors. Peer Tutors have the opportunity to help incoming students while preparing for the USMLE Step I. If you are interested in helping first year medical students, please review our website and submit the application by Friday, August 15, 2008.

Peer Tutors are required to attend the orientation session and present the paperwork and documentation outlined below.

1. Complete this form and return to the program coordinator BEFORE the Orientation Session:

1. Tutor Application Form

2. If you are selected to be a tutor, you will be contacted by the coordinator. Once you have been offered a position, complete these forms from Human Resources and set up a pre-employment "interview" with Human Resources ((713) 500-3165):

1. You MUST bring proper identification as outlined in the I-9 acceptable documents list
2. Federal Tax Withholding Form (W-4)
3. Public Access Form
4. Selective Service Form
5. EEO Veterans Data Form
6. OPTIONAL (but strongly recommended) Authorization Agreement for Direct Deposit

*Please note that you will be required to take a TB skin test.*

 

 

 

Student assignments will be made after the first week of classes. It is the responsibility of students to contact tutors to set up sessions.

You must submit an individual or group tutorial record for each tutorial session before the processing deadline. If you miss the deadline, you are allowed to submit the records for the next pay period.

You will only be paid for tutoring and preparation hours submitted on the tutorial records.
