Artist: John Griffin
John Griffin is a first year medical student and a graduate of Texas A&M University. His interest in photography is long-standing, but a newer aspect of this interest was stimulated by Ansel Adams' work. John's recent focus on photography as an art-form emphasizes the beauty of inanimate objects in a timeless setting and the fact that black and white can sometimes tell more about a scene than color.
The inspiration for this collection was a trip John and his wife, Erin, set out on to several Western European countries in the summer of 2005. Traveling for the first time together out of the country, they experienced freedom like never before. Each of the images tells a story of its own, but they are bound by the common theme of freedom- sometimes true as is the case with the seemingly endless mountains, sometimes imagined as is the case with the gate to the concentration camp.
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." – John 8:54
