Welcome!

Dear Friends,

Dr. Henry Strobel

This marks my 39th year at the UT Medical School, and I remember with great fondness the many wonderful interactions with you all from that first graduating class of 22 in 1973, to the most recent graduating class of 2011 with over 240 graduates. 1977 marked the advent of the freshmen class student retreats; and later, the new clinician ceremonies, the annual educational elective and trek to China now in its 27th year. The 90’s marked the first White Coat ceremony and PBL. In the last decade, the solemn Cadaver Memorial service was organized by the first-year class and has become an annual tradition. A decade ago, Tropical Storm Allison soaked our buildings but did not dampen our spirits, and we have come back stronger than ever.

It is my distinct pleasure to have been part of your lives whether it be as an adviser, by witnessing your Medical School commencements, or officiating at other happy occasions in your personal lives such as your weddings or christenings.

I have enjoyed the many “chats” over the years with you, and for some of you whom I have come to know as both friend and faculty colleague. I hope that you will continue to let me and your classmates know how you are doing by staying connected to your Medical School.

I have already made many new connections with the Class of 2015 at the student retreat at Camp Allen, a tradition that I hope will be part of the student experience here for many years to come. You all have been and are an important and cherished part of my life as a member of our UT family. I hope to continue to interact with you as you attend future Reunions in June 2012 or the Retreat in August of 2012. If your travels ever bring you to campus, be sure to drop in, the coffee and conversation are always on.

Warm regards,
